When I met her in Stuttgart at the <a href=\"https:\/\/jane-eggers-translations.de\/en\/bdu-bw-turns-75\/\">BD\u00dc BW\u2019s 75<sup>th <\/sup>birthday party<\/a>, she told me that she\u2019s currently offering a tour called \u2018Traces of Jewish Life in Karlsruhe\u2019. It accompanies the special exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.landesmuseum.de\/museum-im-schloss\/sonderausstellungen\/unrecht-profit\">Profit and Injustice<\/a> that\u2019s on at Karlsruhe Palace until 28 September.<\/p><p>Sounds interesting, I thought&#8230; So I bought tickets and my daughter and I went down there last Sunday. My elder son is studying in Karlsruhe, and it was a good opportunity to visit him while learning more about the city.<\/p><p>And Julia did a great job. She didn\u2019t simply reel off facts and figures, but shared her knowledge with warmth and enthusiasm. She made it come alive by showing photos of buildings the way they looked back then and engaging with questions from the group.<\/p><p>Of course we know more or less what happened before the Second World War&#8230; But you think about it differently when you hear stories of individual people and get to visit the places where they lived or worked. It stays with you at an emotional level.<\/p><p>Thanks again, Julia.
